About
Expressive contemporary portraits in acrylic and oil pastel.
My paintings explore the complexity of human presence through expressive portraiture. Rather than striving for literal likeness, I use color, gesture, and layered brushwork to reveal the emotional landscape beneath the surface. Faces become places where memory, vulnerability, resilience, and identity intersect.
Color is an essential part of my visual language. I use it intuitively - not to imitate reality, but to evoke mood, amplify emotion, and create psychological depth. Each painting develops through layers of texture and expressive marks, allowing the history of the process to remain visible and become part of the work itself.
While each portrait begins with an individual, my goal is not simply to capture a likeness but to create an image that reflects shared human experience. By leaving room for ambiguity, I invite viewers to bring their interpretations to the work.
